I know its been long but am back! lol
Anyway i have been quite busy over the past few months and things are just getting started. One of the projects am working on at the momemnt is organising an ICT confrence thats targeting the local ICT shareholders and am not taking about the suits here to discuss policies and the likes, but hackers and coders like you and me, people with a real stake in the industry.
Its all still in planning ad we need your help, fill out this online survey to give us a hint on how best we can make the conference a success for everyone.
Will be keeping you updated on the progress as soon as i get a chance to do so.
Thanks

Finally got around to upgrading my laptop from 10.2 to the latest version, 10.3.
Had got the dvd from my friend Riitho (thanks a lot :)) but had not gotten the time to sit and do the installation.
To start with i just love the fact that opensuse 10.3 was shipped with mp3 support out of the box, what this means is that you do not have to go online ( for the folks like me with no internet connection at home) to get rpms to play your mp3 files as had been the case before. After the installation you can immediately begin listening to your music collection, using amarok the default player
Booting openSUSE also got faster, so has shutdown. One thng that used to really tick me off with 10.2 was the time it took for it to boot up, now the good folks of the openSuSE community as well as Novell have taken care of that problem.
The deafult theme is green which looks nice, though i loved the blue artwork of the 10.2 version.
I still do not understand why most distros do not include scribus by deafult, managed to get and install the rpm. My Atheros AR500g wireless card was not detected by default so i had to download and install the madwifi drivers then did a simple
modprobe ath_pci
to get it running. More deatails can be found here
Think that covers it all.

Choice, choice, choice the call that echos in the open source world, but more choices means more decisions, most users can not make up their minds on which linux distro to use, as there are hundreds out there, well here is a tool from Zegenie Studios that i came across on DesktopLinux hope it helps set you on the path to freedom and oh yes choice
